Why “Moms of Influence”?

I don’t do much without thinking it through. In fact, I have often been guilty of a “paralysis by analysis” way of living. Maybe this is why it has taken me so long to launch. Or maybe, my lack of feeling “ready” has allowed me to experience enough of life to actually BE ready. I have called this place “Moms of Influence” for a reason. Since it took me YEARS to figure that out, I want to share it with you.

I purposely named this site with the plural, “Moms” because I want this to become a community – an online (and perhaps in person) space where we can learn, grow, and fail forward together as we raise the next generation who will lead our families, communities, nation, and world. It will be a community of us (not me). I fully expect to learn at least as much from you as you learn from this community. We are in this together. I hope you will join me in sharing your successes, oops moments and what you are learning as you raise great kids.

This blog will also be written primarily from the voice of this mom, because it is my most authentic voice! There will be additional posts occasionally from the perspective of dads, teachers, grandparents, parenting and leadership experts, and others who are influencing our next generation. But to be “real”, I want you to know that I am simply a MOM who happens to have a background in and passion for leadership development.

Second, I read a book that changed my life called Becoming a Person of Influence by John C. Maxwell (Hint hint: you should read it too!). With this book, I learned to truly, TRULY let go of my fears about what other people think of me and instead, focus on intentionally use what God has given me to INFLUENCE others for good. I have been given an analytical brain, a compassionate heart, a desire to learn, an empathic spirit, and a passion to equip others with whatever they need to excel.  I adore seeing people set a goal, work towards it, persist, push, sweat, fall and get back up, and ultimately ACCOMPLISH what they set out to do. If I can do anything to facilitate that process, sign me up! I will be your biggest fan.  With MomsOfInfluence.com, I hope to INFLUENCE other parents towards raising the next generation to INFLUENCE their world for good. You see? The word INFLUENCE is so pervasive in my heart and mind, I simply could not create a website without including that word. As you learn and grow, you will become more aware of your influence too!  Not just on your kids, but on your other family members, friends and community. As John Maxwell wrote:

Leadership is not about titles, positions or flowcharts. It is about one life influencing another.”

May my little life influence even one for good, and may your and your children’s lives influence MANY for good. That’s what Moms of Influence is about. The ripple effect.

  1. Ahhh! A fellow Maxwell fan! I just finished “Failing Forward”. Loved it. I think it’s great that you went for it before you really felt ready. I love the saying “You have to fake it til you make it!” Which really all just means you put into practice what you believe you have to give the world! So glad I’ve met you! I’ll be reading through your posts!
